On September 1, 2021, Dr. Dirk Didascalou (51) will assume the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Siemens Digital Industries (DI).
With Dirk Didascalou (photo Siemens), Siemens has gained an outstanding technology expert and an experienced leader, said Cedrik Neike, member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG and CEO of Digital Industries: “With two decades of experience in research and development as well as distinctive expertise in mobile communications, cloud computing, HyperScale architecture, Software-as-a-Service (Saas) and IoT- he is just the right person to further drive our strategy to merge the real and the digital world. Together with our customers and partners, he will expand our innovation ecosystem.”
Dr. Didascalou currently serves as Vice President IoT at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Seattle, USA. In his new role at Siemens Digital Industries, he reports directly to CEO Cedrik Neike and, as CTO, leads the overall technology and architecture strategy for DI. In addition, Dr. Didascalou is responsible for strategic partnerships within the industry and joint initiatives with customers, for example in the automotive industry. In addition to his responsibilities at DI, he also takes a leading role in the company-wide IoT board and promotes digital transformation across all Siemens businesses.
Dr. Dirk Didascalou sees the Industrial Internet of Things as a crucial factor for digital transformation. Prior to joining AWS, Dr. Didascalou was Corporate Vice President Technology at Microsoft. The move to Microsoft resulted from the acquisition of Nokia’s cell phone division, where he held various leadership positions in Copenhagen and Beijing and was most recently Senior Vice President R&D responsible for the global technology division.
