SPS Smart Production Solutions 2024 will take place in Nuremberg from 12 to 14 November. The number of around 1,200 exhibitors announced by the organiser is slightly lower than last year, when the trade fair recorded an increase compared to 2022. According to the organiser, all halls are occupied.

The industry’s economic difficulties and the growing planning uncertainty for geopolitical and economic reasons seem to be having an impact even on this trade fair, which has the topic of automation in production at its centre like no other.

The digitalisation of automation is an enormously powerful lever against de-industrialisation and the weakening of the German speaking area as a business location, especially for the manufacturing industry. And it can do so through its own efforts, not through support measures and subsidies.

Almost all of the providers of open, Linux-based automation platforms represented in the Smart Automation market overview will also be present in Nuremberg this year. Bosch Rexroth, FLECS Technologies, German Edge Cloud, KEBA Industrial Automation, Lenze, Phoenix Contact, SALZ Automation, Siemens, TTTech Industrial, WAGO and Weidmüller.

The only exception is Contact Software, which is holding its major customer event Open World for this year on 12 and 13 November in Unterschleißheim near Munich for organisational reasons.
