With the ONCITE Digital Production System (DPS), German Edge Cloud has created a highly scalable, open digitalisation and technology platform based on a future-proof architecture for the manufacturing industry. In this way, the company is building a bridge between the real and virtual worlds of industrial production. For customers, this means access to ready-to-use ONCITE DPS software modules. They support companies in networking, data management and analysis, production optimisation and the implementation of a virtual factory in the context of the industrial metaverse. The customer selects exactly the solutions they need and can therefore digitalise step by step in line with their requirements – and in coexistence with existing IT and OT infrastructures. Combination with the customer’s own applications is also possible.

The ONCITE DPS solution is enhanced by integration modules for connecting to the digital eco-systems, for secure data exchange along the cross-company value chain (e.g. Catena-X/Factory-X).

Areas of application

With the ONCITE DPS, GEC has developed a solution primarily focussed on the manufacturing industry (discrete manufacturing). ONCITE DPS fulfils the requirements of an IIoT platform and acts as a kind of middleware between shop floor units such as IoT devices, machines and systems as well as other IT systems and external platforms (ecosystems). At the same time, ONCITE DPS provides corresponding services for monitoring, fault identification and management of the connected IoT devices, the network and the data streams.
Depending on the expansion level of the ONCITE DPS, the customer has access to further integrated, microservice-based industrial applications. This makes it possible to implement intelligent, data-driven production in accordance with the principles of Industry 4.0. This also takes into account the focus topics of sustainability/energy efficiency and AI in production.
ONCITE DPS is a relevant reference architecture for the implementation of a smart factory.

An integration service is essential for the effective operation of the ONCITE DPS. On the one hand, this includes pre-configured adapters for connecting sensors/devices/systems as well as applications/services and platforms. It also enables the design, development, execution, monitoring and management of new applications (including customised solutions) for controlling processes and data streams.

ONCITE DPS is based entirely on open standards and AI. Furthermore, the user has easy access to all production and process data via API and can also use it for specific analyses and dialogue-oriented HMI applications.

Catena-X_EN

ONCITE DPS is an important, highly relevant node within the new, secure ecosystems. This is why ONCITE DPS is the first certified solution for Catena-X.

Only through seamless production documentation (track) with the linking of component and process information can seamless traceability along the value chain be ensured across company boundaries. The requirements for such a track & trace solution in accordance with the Catena-X certification guidelines are high.

With the Catena-X certified ONCITE DPS including Track & Trace and valuable additional functions, customers receive an excellent solution module. With valid data, they can exchange secure, unrestricted and semi-automated information within the Catena-X eco-system and work with each other across companies.

In addition to its involvement in Catena-X, GEC is also a relevant consortium and development partner for Factory-X. GEC established its knowledge base early on as a founding member of GAIA-X. With the CX-Gateway available today in the ONCITE DPS, GEC offers quick and easy access to the market-relevant ecosystems (currently Catena-X).
