In July 2020, SAP and Siemens announced the foundation of a strategic partnership for a digital common thread that would run through customers’ engineering, manufacturing and operations businesses. Today, SAP S/4HANA President Jan Gilg and Siemens Digital Industries Software President Tony Hemmelgarn announced details of a roadmap for this partnership.
According to the roadmap, three phases are scheduled for the integration of SAP S/4HANA and Teamcenter by the end of 2022.
- Phase I (October 2021) will address the fundamentals of product development and a set of core business scenarios based on a common domain model, thus achieving cross-system traceability and linkages between Siemens and SAP.
- Phase II (spring 2022) will focus on optimizing the integration between product development, extended supply chain, and production operations planning, and will lay the foundation for advanced functionalities, such as variant rules, project and portfolio management.
- Phase III (fall 2022) targets bidirectional closed-loop traceability and collaboration between manufacturing and production engineering and concrete use cases such as cross-system impact analysis, change process initiation and process execution.
The combined integration solution will be developed and offered by SAP and Siemens and will be available to customers of both companies.
