Developed in close cooperation with customer Xtek
Bluestar PLM customer Xtek was due to switch from the old Microsoft ERP system AX to the new cloud-based Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&SCM in 2021. Xtek combined this with a PLM introduction. Bluestar PLM is embedded in MS Dynamics.
However, shortly after the implementation, the idea for a new module emerged that would also optimally support Xtek’s service department in its modernization projects. The result was the new Aftersales Re-Design & Re-Manufacturing module, which is now available to the market in general.
Xtek in Cincinnati, Ohio, supplies custom designed and manufactured parts and assemblies for heavy industry worldwide. Xtek supplies couplings, industrial gearboxes and crane wheels, especially for the steel and aluminum industries, mining, shipyards and power generation. Founded in 1909, the company has been employee-owned since 2000. Since the end of 2021, Xtek has been using Bluestar PLM from the provider PDM technology Group.

The modernization of components and assemblies is becoming increasingly important, and not just at Xtek. The importance of sustainability is increasing everywhere. Of course, modernizing large machines and assemblies and keeping them in operation for as long as possible has even greater consequences than for consumer goods. Of course, there are also bills of material (BOM) for service projects. However, because it is often the case that previously developed parts and their data can be used for reuse or repair, Xtek also wanted to be able to create and manage this special service BOM with Bluestar PLM. With the same security of revision and release as with normal BOMs.
This is now possible with the new Aftersales module. In some cases, such service BOMs can be created automatically. The use of CAD systems connected to the customer’s system is fully supported. Xtek is very satisfied with the new module and the extended functionality of Bluestar PLM, as described by those responsible in a case study.
The Bluestar PLM module Aftersales Re-Design & Re-manufacturing is available immediately. Here the link to the module on the homepage. In February, PDM technology Group will be offering a webinar on the module, which interested parties can register for.
