Schaeffler wants to make it clear in its name what the new value proposition of the former Industry 4.0 division is. According to a press release dated 12.5.22, the associated motto “Keep your machines rolling” formulates “the claim to serve the wishes and needs of maintenance and plant managers throughout the entire life of a machine.”

Dr. Stefan Spindler, Member of the Executive Board of Schaeffler’s Industrial division, says of the renaming: “The challenges but also the opportunities are increasing: Higher productivity and more sustainability are to be realized with the greatest possible efficiency. This requires comprehensive concepts – and this is exactly where we come in with Schaeffler Lifetime Solutions. Our focus is on our customers, and we support them all along the way. The goal is clear: Our products and services should make their workflows as plannable as possible and give them the certainty that their machines will run reliably and without surprising failures.”

Rauli Hantikainen, Head of Schaeffler Lifetime Solutions, adds: the new name “is a value promise: For fewer unplanned downtimes, extended bearing and machine life, for greater sustainability and higher reliability in operation, and above all for a stress-free and more predictable everyday working life. For our customers, we are a partner at eye level, accompanying them in every phase of their production and standing by with individual solutions.”

Predictive, preventive maintenance is based on Schaeffler’s many years of experience in bearing design, assembly, and constant lubrication and monitoring. The keyword “sustainability” is becoming increasingly important in production and is therefore one of the most important cornerstones for the development and expansion of Schaeffler Lifetime Solutions. Efficient and preventive maintenance makes valuable contributions to the better use of resources by preventing unplanned downtime in the plant and helping to reduce CO2 emissions.

Probably also the fact is contributed to the naming that, after more than ten years of Industrie 4.0, the added value of this initiative is still difficult to grasp for many industrial companies. Predictive maintenance, on the other hand, seems to be a value proposition, which they understand.
